A new Xbox One-exclusive title from Keiji Inafune, the former Mega Man producer, his company Comcept and former developers of the Metroid Prime series at the Texas-based Armature Studio, was revealed by Microsoft during its E3 conference on Monday.
In the reveal for ReCore, a female protagonist is with a robotic dog companion traveling through a desert world. The woman is one of the last humans on a planet controlled by robots. While discovering another large, lifeless robotic creature inside a cave, they are attacked by spider-like machines, which she uses a gun to fight back against. After becoming overwhelmed the dog sacrifices itself to save her, leaving behind its blue energy force. At the end of the trailer she inserts the same blue core into the defunct robot, bringing it back to life.
The game is scheduled to release in spring 2016 for the Xbox One.
Armature Studio was founded in 2008 and has worked on mostly ports besides Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, released for handhelds, home consoles and the PC in 2013 and 2014. ReCore will be the studio’s first original project.
