Uncharted 3 Season Pass Gives Discount on Map Packs & Character Skins

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced a Season Pass bundle for Uncharted 3’s future downloadable multiplayer content today. The pass is called the “Fortune Hunters’ Club” and gives players a discount on several add-ons for the game’s online modes.

Mick Perona, associate product marketing manager for Sony Computer Entertainment America, revealed the details on the official PlayStation Blog. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception hasn’t even released yet, but Naughty Dog already have seven multiplayer add-ons planned for the PlayStation 3 exclusive. If you buy the Fortune Hunters’ Club pass for $24.99, you pre-order the first four multiplayer map packs and first three character skin add-ons. The first downloadable content will release sometime in November, the same month the game launches.

Players save more than 45 percent by purchasing the Season Pass, according to Sony. The company said it will cost more than $45 to buy all the content separately. Besides a discount on future DLC, the Season Pass also includes a Fortune Hunters’ Club XMB theme.

When the content becomes available, Fortune Hunters’ Club members will receive a notification linking them to the direct download in the PSN Store. The Season Pass is now available to buy on the PSN Store.

No release dates, details on the map packs and skins or individual pricing structures were announced.

Uncharted 3 is the latest in a series of releases to incorporate a Season Pass, similar to Microsoft Studios’ Forza Motorsport 4 and Gears of War 3. Drake’s Deception is one of the first games alongside Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.’s Mortal Kombat to include both an Online and Season Pass.

To even access these online add-ons, players need to redeem an Online Pass for Uncharted 3. Naughty Dog said the Online Pass is to support the costs of maintaining servers for the game.

While likely smaller in scale, 2009’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves had several multiplayer add-ons that were much cheaper than Uncharted 3’s will be:

At around $22, these packs added four multiplayer maps, 27 character skins, a new co-op mode, new weapon skins and several Trophies. Each add-on currently costs between $0.99-2.99 on the PSN Store. Some of these add-ons were included in the Game of the Year version of Uncharted 2 released in October 2010.

Naughty Dog has previously said that Uncharted 3 won’t be getting any single-player DLC because the studio would rather focus on an entirely new game.

The standard version of Uncharted 3 will retail for $59.99.
