Halo 4 Begins a New Trilogy, Launches Holiday 2012
Master Chief returns to save the universe.
At the end of its E3 press conference, Microsoft revealed a teaser for Halo 4. Microsoft announced the game starts a new trilogy in the Halo franchise. Halo 4 follows the events of Halo 3 and features the return of Master Chief and Cortana who take on an ancient evil threatening the destruction of the universe.
The game is being developed by 343 Industries. Halo 4 is the first Halo game not being developed by Bungie, the creators of the franchise. Halo 3: ODST (2009) and Halo: Reach (2010) were spinoffs for the series and didn’t feature Master Chief as the main character. Halo 3 released Sept. 25, 2007. As of August 2009, Halo 3 has sold more than 10 million copies.
Halo 4 will release sometime during Holiday 2012. An official release date and further details on the game haven’t been confirmed by Microsoft. Some clues surrounding the Halo 4 story will be found in the high-definition remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, which is scheduled to release Nov. 15.
