inFamous 2 Imports inFamous Trophy Data for Bonuses and Game Changes
Your past will help your future when beginning inFamous 2.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, inFamous 2 is set to release June 7. The game takes place in a new city called New Marais, where Cole MacGrath further develops his super powers to once again take on The Beast. To aid in this battle, the PlayStation 3 exclusive checks the original inFamous’ Trophy list and gives bonuses to the player, reported IGN on Friday.
The game save for inFamous isn’t needed, nor is a copy of the original game. inFamous 2 checks the Trophies for the PlayStation Network ID being used to play the game. inFamous 2 is of the first games to import a player’s Trophies or Achievements and use them to give bonuses and change story elements.
Here’s what inFamous Trophies are needed for inFamous 2 bonuses:
- Completed inFamous on any difficulty (Evil Finish, Good Finish-Silver; Hard Finish-Gold): 1,000 experience points
- Good or bad karma Trophies: start the game at level one for good or evil karma rank
- found 25 percent of blast shards (Junior Geologist-Bronze): one energy core
- found 50 percent of blast shards (Member of the Mineral Club-Bronze): two energy cores
The unlocked karma decision trophies also affect side missions, dead drops (audio clips), and dialogue in inFamous 2. There’s no word on the extensiveness of these changes or what specific decision Trophies inFamous 2 bases these changes on. There’s also no confirmation on how the importation works if Trophies for both karma decisions have been earned.
inFamous released May 26, 2009. The game is part of the PS3’s Greatest Hits line. It’s also being included as a free download for U.S. PS3 owners as part of Sony’s “Welcome Back” program. The game will be available to download for 30 days after the PlayStation Network Store returns to service.
The sequel will retail for $59.99. The Hero Edition of inFamous 2 retails for $99.99 and includes a miniature Cole statue, a voucher for downloadable content like powers and weapons, the game’s soundtrack, and other items. inFamous 2 also includes access to the multiplayer beta of Uncharted 3, which starts June 28.
