Ready at Dawn Layoffs
Ready at Dawn Studios lays off several employees.
On July 14th, Ready at Dawn announced they released several employees due to constraints within the company.
Ready at Dawn was founded in 2003. They’re based in Irvine, California and are an independent developer.
The company developed PSP titles such as Daxter and God of War: Chains of Olympus. They’re currently working on theupcoming God of War: Ghost of Sparta.
According to an official press release, thirteen employees were laid off. The studio said:
We’ve spent the majority of our time at RAD hiring the best and most talented people to join our team. Today, we had to let go of 13 of these people because we simply couldn’t keep them on board while one project finishes and another ramps up. Unfortunately, these are the woes of being independent…
It sucks. There are no other words for it.
Those who were released had been with the studio for several years, as far back as the studio’s beginnings. Only four members who worked on Chains of Olympus remain with the company, according to Joystiq.
