Nintendo 3DS Revealed at E3

Nintendo’s latest handheld is coming-and it’s 3D.

Today at their E3 Conference, Nintendo officially revealed the next installment in theirhandhelds, the 3DS.

Saturo Iwata, President and CEO of Nintendo, unveiled the new handheld, calling it Nintendo’s next step in evolving 3D gaming.

“What we searched for was a way to make 3d games a reality. A product for mass market. Nintendo 3DS is our answer,” said Iwata.

Here’s some of the 3DS’ features:

  • 3D capabilities-adjustable 3D depth
  • 3D glasses free
  • Two 3D cameras built-in
  • Two screens; top is 3.5 inch 3D, bottom is 3-inch touch screen (not 3D)
  • Motion sensor
  • Analog stick
  • WiFi capabilities
  • Previous DS games compatible with 3DS
  • Three different colors

According to Iwata, the following (and more) third-party companies are developing for 3DS:

  • Capcom
  • Konami
  • Level-5
  • Harmonix
  • Atlas
  • Ubisoft
  • Square-Enix
  • THQ

According to Go Nintendo, here are some of the games in development:

  • Kid Icarus:Uprising
  • Star Fox 64 3D
  • Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D “The Naked Sample”
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D
  • Resident Evil Revelations
  • Mario Kart
  • Paper Mario
  • Saints Row: Drive-By
  • Contra
  • Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
  • Ninja Gaiden

Nintendo hasn’t confirmed an official price or release date for the 3DS.
