Max Payne 3 is once again delayed.
In a financial report released today by Take-Two, the company announced that Max Payne 3 won’t be released in the 2010 fiscal year. The 2010 fiscal year ends October 31st.
The game could possibly pushed all the way into 2011. Originally supposed to release in late 2009, Max Payne 3 was then delayed until Q4 of 2010. No new release date is set.
According to Joystiq, Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two, addressed the delay during a conference call:
While we do not take the movement of any title lightly, our recent success with Red Dead Redemption illustrates the importance and the benefit of giving a title the time it needs in order to fulfill its potential in the marketplace,” he explained. “The team at Rockstar is focused on making this the best experience in interactive entertainment.
Max Payne 3 has already been delayed close to a full year now. By the time it finally comes out, Max is going to be dead from obesity and heart disease.
With those key losses and all these delays, Max Payne 3 and its protagonist are looking more and more like a shell of their former selves.
This is probably Max Payne’s reaction to yet another delay:
I’ve been delayed again. My soul catches fire. Anger boils in my blood. I lose my patience and the last remaining hairs on my head. My clenched fist meets a wall. Perspiration drenches my underarms as a yellow stain forms near the edges of my white wife beater. I wade through a sea of Big Mac boxes and empty two-liter Pepsi bottles that have become my apartment and mark a blood red X on the remaining days of the calender. The sun sets on my hopes of seeing the light of a 2010 day. While Mafia 2 gets a 2010 release, I am tied to the shackles of another delay. Somebody is going to pay for this. Dearly.
